Here are a few pointers I can give as a photographer.
The very first rule is not to forget the day your child's class is coming. That way, you can prepare for the photo shoot. Read the letter that the school has sent you carefully: a lot of information is already there.
Counsel your child: tell them what clothes you'd like them to wear, help them get dressed.
Don't force him to wear an outfit he doesn't like. He needs to feel comfortable in his clothes.
If he's ill on the day of the class photos, see if the photographer is still at the school the following days. He can come and take his individual portrait between classes.
Make sure they feel good: if they've had a fight with a friend, try to comfort them and tell them it's nothing serious.
Don't stress him out. Don't tell him how to pose or with whom. The most moving and natural thing is to let them experience this moment as they wish. The photographer will give some basic advice anyway.
If your child has been injured and has a sore or pimple, you can request a special retouch via the form provided when ordering the photos.
Here's my advice as a photographer
First of all, the most important thing is to not forget the day and time when your class plans to pose in front of the camera. To do this, refer to the letter that the school has distributed to you. Be very punctual and don't hesitate to remind your teacher, it can happen that they forget the appointment or turn up late. It's a shame, as we won't have time to take all the photos.
The letter that the school has distributed to you contains a lot of essential information, including the expected timescales for orders, payment solutions and delivery of the prints you have ordered; the password for viewing the photos is given in this letter. Keep it to yourself.
On the day itself, before coming to school, bear in mind that this is a moment that will remain engraved not only in your memory, but above all on many photo prints. Smile and feel at ease. Let yourself be guided by the photographer's instructions, whose sole aim is to make your portraits as successful as possible. Here are a few valuable tips:
Wear nice clothes: shirt, suit, dress, plain t-shirt, polo shirt, jumper, jeans, trousers, skirt. Remember to maybe make an appointment with the hairdresser before the photos.
Check that everything is to your liking: pleats, collars, visible things that shouldn't be, zips. Try to avoid clothes in fluorescent colours, as they don't look very good in photographs. And don't forget that the school's dress code also applies to class photos; avoid wearing clothes that are too short and don't wear too much make-up - you probably don't need it, you look so much better naturally. Finally, if you've eaten at break or lunchtime, check your face and teeth.
For the class photo, you'll need to remove any accessories such as your hat or cap. You will, however, be able to use them for other photos.
Be nice to everyone: we will take several photos together: all together, just girls/boys, in small groups, etc. This must be a pleasant moment for everyone. Don't hesitate to pose on your own or with some friends you may not yet know. If a friend has been left alone, you can invite them to pose with you, even if you've already taken a group photo with your other friends.
Don't exclude anyone, don't comment on those who are posing, leave room for others.
If you've just had a fight with your best friend, with your girlfriend, make your peace before the class photos. You'll be sorry the next day that you didn't take a portrait with her/him.
Smile! We all look better when we smile; our faces light up as do those around us. Don't hesitate to pose in an original way, don't stand in all the photos, sit down, carry a friend or take them by the shoulders. Be dynamic and creative.
Don't try to be someone you're not. Don't force yourself to be part of a group or do choreography you don't want to.
Gestures and signs with the hands are forbidden. Signs of belonging to groups, fashions or ephemeral trends have no place in your class photos. Photos containing gestures will be reported to the management and immediately deleted.
